Harpenden Society Awards for developments completed in 2021

The Harpenden Society has been helping to maintain the Town's unique visual image for more than 40 years by recognising building, design & site developments of a high architectural standard that blend within the town much of which is a conservation area.


A small committee of society members chaired by Penny Ayres assess the nominations from Society members in the early Spring prior to the official announcements at the AGM in April.


AWARDS CRITERIA


  • Buildings or site developments completed in the year ending December 2021
  • Buildings or site developments that have architectural merit.
  • Buildings or site developments that contribute a benefit to the town's residents

AWARD CATEGORIES


  • The prestigious Harpenden Society Plaque
  • Certificates of Merit
  • Letters of Commendation

Harpenden Society annual awards for 2021 announced at the 21st April 2022 public meeting.


The Prestigious Plaque was awarded to The Eric Morecambe Centre and will be presented at a separate event shortly.


The Certificate of Merit was awarded to The Children’s Play Area in Rothamsted Park. Town Mayor Paul Cousin received this on behalf of Harpenden Town Council.


The Letter of Commendation was awarded to The Board Walk at Batford Springs Nature Reserve.   Town Mayor Paul Cousin received this on behalf of Harpenden Town Council.


The presentation was led by Penny Ayres, (above right) the head of the Awards committee ably assisted by Society president Alison Steer (above centre).
